| Ayerst Farm |
| We have land.....yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| February 8, 2008 |
|
Today we closed on almost 8 acres in
Trenton,SC. This is a dream come true for me and my husband is
also very excited. We plan to prepare the land over the next
couple of years and then build a home and barn. I can't wait
to have Lady with me 24/7. Guess we'll have to get used to mucking
stalls, cleaning water troughs/buckets, stacking feed bags and hay,
dragging arenas and mowing the pastures, repairing fencing and on and on......geeze,
what have we gotten ourselves in to?

| New Tractor! |
|
Well, you can't have land without a
tractor, right? Bert is having a blast on his new toy. He
would prefer a corvette, but this will do just fine.

| February 16, 2008 Family Work Day! |

Bert and I took Lady to a dressage show
then met the rest of the gang for a farm "work day". We
got a lot done. Big thank you to my son Trey, my daughter Lauren,
my mom Helga, and Joe!!!! You guys are terrific!

| April 2008 Starting on
Fencing!!! |
|
We decided to start fencing our
property. This will be a long project and we will do a little bit
at a time. We are starting on the road frontage and driveway
first. Bert and Trey have worked tirelessly putting in posts (back
breaking work I found out) and Lauren, Oma and myself helped mostly with
putting up rails. It is amazing how important math skills are in
putting up fencing..thank goodness Bert has great math skills!!
Thanks to Carrie Stinner for lending us some equipment!!

June
2008
Well, a lot has been happening at the farm. For Mother's Day,
Bert and the kids had a sign made to go in front of the farm (see
picture below). The sign was such a thoughtful gift and really
made it feel like this will really be our home one day! Bert
bought a bush hog and has been busy bush hogging the property and also
putting up more fencing. Bert and I took a nice picture of Lady's
head in a round frame so we could have a custom sign put on our entry
gate. Below you will see a picture of the photo then the artists
rendering of it for the gate. We laugh every time we look at the
photo because I actually had a nasty fall and suffered a concussion
while taking that photo..long story, stupid mistake! At any rate,
we DID get the picture we were trying to get and all is well. We
have also been busy deciding where all our building structures will go
as well as the arenas. We plan (budget permitting) to have a
jumping arena, round pen, and a full size dressage arena. We also
hope to construct some cross country jumps around the property. The
beauty of having so much time, is that we can do a lot of the work
ourselves.
